School History / Origin :
Some progressive people who realized the necessity of women education established Garalgacha Balika Vidyalaya with only 12 girl students on 11th Aug. 1919 at Garalgacha in the corridor of Late Bireswar Mukherjee’s home. In the year 1938 it was upgraded from lower primary to upper primary school by the education department of the Govt. of West Bengal. The great son of Garalgacha Sir Manmathanath Mukhopaddhyay, Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court donated five kathas of land for developing a school building.
From 1942 onwards the school began to flourish. In 1951 it was upgraded to junior high school (class VIII). From 01-01-1963 the school was recognised as high school (school final). The head mistress was Smt. Banamala devi (Mukhopaddhay). In the year 2000, it was upgraded as a higher secondary school which is run in two sections – Arts and Science
